The Campaigner
Crispin attended Leighton Park School, an independent Quaker school in Reading, before gaining a scholarship to study English at Christ Church, Oxford
Crispin often spoke about a group of CND peace marchers who stayed the night at school as they were walking to Aldermaston. Meeting them left a lasting impression and it seems this may have been the trigger for Crispin's campaigning zeal.
The Environmentalist
Crispin was one of the first environmental journalists and even before he joined Time Out to cover the environment and nuclear energy he was involved in a number of organisations and campaigns.
Stop Hinkley
Crispin moved with his family to Somerset in 1980. He was already actively involved in the anti nuclear movement and made a memorable introduction to village life by driving a 10 metre model of a trident missile through the village.
He went on to take a prominent role in Stop Hinkley and coordinated the original campaign against a third reactor at Hinkley Point over twenty years ago, which was heralded as a success as the reactor was never built.
