The Crispin Aubrey Scholarship
In 2014, the Crispin Aubrey Legacy Fund launched the Crispin Aubrey Scholarship in partnership with the University of West of England. This scholarship award supports aspiring journalists to pursue a career in journalism with a focus on environmental or social justice issues.
This new award is open to first year undergraduate and MA journalism students at UWE. The grant will support students to pursue opportunities to enhance their career in journalism and be allocated with a professional mentor who will support them in finding work experience and in developing their professional profile.
The Crispin Aubrey Scholarship is awarded to journalism students who can best demonstrate that they intend to pursue a career in journalism and have an interest in environmental and/or social justice issues. The fund are particularly interested in supporting students from Somerset and the South West, who have limited financial resources and may come from a background which makes it difficult for them to access work experience or pursue opportunities to further their career in journalism.
The Crispin Aubrey Scholars will receive a grant of £1,500 per year and be supported by a professional mentor. The Undergraduate Crispin Aubrey Scholar will receive £3,000 over two years and the MA Crispin Aubrey Scholar will receive £1,500 over a year.
